I was asked by some students to help them in a drama competition and they needed an iMac for the stage, so I decided to make a cardboard model for the drama. It was very simple to design and make except for the stand which was a little more complicated. I will put a pdf on the downloads page if anyone needs to make an iMac, it contains all the necessary parts to print-out and put together.

I began by cutting the ribs from my print-outs and assembling them

I then glued the ribs onto the front

the edges of the mac were then glued on

gluing the back was not easy and needed 2 cuts and 4 hands

next I cut out the edges and the shape of the stand

the stand after the edges were glued on

extra ribs for strength and the hole now appears

the front is added and the stand is now ready for spraying

the completed stand after being sprayed with silver paint

a few small details on the back of the monitor

the completed iMac with a B/W screen print-out

What did you use for your apple logos and black edges and mostly the things that where black
Hi Max I used a proper photo from a Kodak express shop for the Apple logos. The glossy paper makes them shine. The air vent at the back is a long strip of black paper, as is the black frame around the screen.
Did you use carboard for the stand too? And if so how did you bend it without creasing the cardboard?
The stand is also completely made from cardboard about 2mm thick. I used a long piece of doweling, (long wooden pole) like a broom handle to gently curve the cardboard around it and create the curves. Have fun making the iMac
how strong is the stand?
this looks amazing by the way!
The stand was strong enough to hold the screen for about 15 seconds before it began to slowly bend forward. To hold the screen in place I made a dodecahedron calendar the right size and placed it under the screen so it could rest on the calendar. It looked great and was practical and functional.
thanks! I have been trying to use the design in a 27 inch imac that i am making!
